Never mind abuse or personality disorders, the devastation of marrying someone who is insecure, emotionally immature and incapable of self-awareness or loving themselves, is inescapable.

All because of the sensitive, evolved and loving human that you are.

Our soul has an agenda in marrying someone that we will outgrow. As we become more self-aware we begin to see the contrast in our character, our integrity and our aspirations, from our spouse. Initially, rather than overwhelm us, it actually empowers us to put more effort into upleveling our relationship.

At first we don’t realize what’s happening — that we are surpassing what’s possible in our partnership. Instead, we become giddy with a heightened sense of awareness. This might look like a new direction in your career, or an epiphany of a spiritual matter. It’s subtle, and we that assume everyone feels it. We expect our spouse feels it, too, and we’ll talk to them about it.

But we don’t notice that they aren’t getting it. They will try to keep up, but eventually they will begin to resent you, even though they haven’t the self-awareness to realize their thoughts. We don’t notice them begin to pull away because it’s barely perceptible even to…
